When we awaken in the morning we were already approaching Rhodes. After breakfast we joined Julie and Robert in sharing a taxi to Lindos. But before he could take us to Lindos, we had to visit his "cousin's" pottery shop on the way. As it turned out it was a very nice shop with quite a selection of nice clay designs.
Off to the one side we could see one of the artisans making a bunch of clay pots. The oven for firing them was just off to the side. Our taxi guide claimed that the clays are dug locally.
Bright colors especially of hybiscus and other flowers seemed to predominate, but they also tended to have a white antelope that isn't that often in the other shops we visited.
After spending too much time looking around and buying, we were finally back on the road to Lindos. It was a beautiful drive along the shore
Soon we pulled off the side of the road to overlook the bay where one could see the Chapel of St. Paul beneath the city of Lindos
To the left of the chapel is a crystal clear bay. The varying tints of blue from the depths of the water created a picturesque view.
In the distance one could clearly see the city of Lindos beneath its acropolis.
The taxi driver took us into the city and left us off with a scheduled time to meet him again at the drop off spot.
Remy and I started a slow walk up the steep hill to the top of the acropolis. We stopped every few hundred feet and rested.
The views of the bay below were magnificent.
Julie and Robert took an easier form of transportation. Remy is not too keen on four legged rides so we had to be content to watch the mules
pass us up as we crept up the hill.
By the time we reached the castle on top it was time to start heading back down. We headed down a shorter but steeper path to the city center.
This path contained the additional hazard of venders every few feet trying to sell us souvenirs. When we reached the city center at the bottom the Robert, Julie and the taxi were waiting for us.
